ABMEC held its Annual General Meeting on 17 June, marking an important milestone with the formal handover of the Presidency from Russell Lafford to Julia Cameron.
Russell concluded his term as President after providing dedicated leadership and support to the Association during a period of significant change for ABMEC. On behalf of the Board, members and staff, ABMEC extends its sincere thanks to Russell for his commitment and valuable contribution throughout his presidency.
Russell commented on his time as President:
“My time as President of ABMEC has been both enjoyable and rewarding, providing the opportunity to work closely with members, industry partners both nationally and internationally, and the dedicated ABMEC team. I am proud of the connections we have strengthened and the positive profile we have continued to build for the UK mining equipment and services sector. I would like to thank everyone for their support and wish Julia Cameron every success as she takes on the role of President.”
Julia Cameron now assumes the role of President and will lead the Association as it continues to champion the UK mining supply chain, strengthen member engagement and support the sector’s role in delivering the critical minerals needed for the global energy transition.
Speaking following her appointment, Julia said:
“ Honoured and delighted to become President. Looking forward to the challenges ahead and the difference we can make together.”
The AGM, the first in person one since 2019, provided members with an opportunity to reflect on the past year, review the Association’s progress and discuss priorities for the year ahead. Members provided a range of ideas for the team and Board to consider further, and both are grateful for the energy and enthusiasm shown towards the Association.
ABMEC looks forward to working on these ideas with Julia and the Board as the Association continues to support its members and promote the world-class capabilities of the UK mining supply chain.
