ABMEC is delighted to announce that the Future Talent Initiative is returning the ABMEC Conference and Exhibition in partnership with MAUK 2026!

Last year it was a huge success – benefiting all the attendees, not just the students!

Through this initiative we offer a limited number of students the opportunity to attend the ABMEC Conference and Exhibition 2026 free of charge, gaining direct access to industry leaders, cutting-edge mining technology, and the latest insights shaping the sector’s future. It will provide a chance to network with professionals, explore career paths, and see first-hand how the mining industry is driving innovation and sustainability. Students don’t have to be studying mining or engineering – just open to the idea of a career in the sector and willing to engage fully with this opportunity

  • A minimum of 20 complimentary passes  to attend the conference are available which includes
    • An introductory meet and greet over coffee with key mining professionals , ahead of the conference opening
    • Entry to all talks with all refreshments included
    • Entry to the exhibition area
  • The opportunity to join our mentor scheme
  • Open to applicants between  18 – 25 who are in education or unemployed.

If you are travelling and need accommodation for the conference grants may be  available to help with the associated costs from the below organisations: :

IOM3 | Grants & Bursaries open to members only (student membership £20 for the duration of your course or apprenticeship and an additional 18 months after graduation/completion)

AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS – MIDLAND INSTITUTE OF MINING ENGINEERS – Noel Webster scheme (Applicants must be a member for a minimum of 12 months )

IET Travel Awards for IET members only (student/apprentice membership £35 for the duration of the course)

Conference grants – Institution of Mechanical Engineers for IMechE members only (Affiliate Membership is free to students and apprentices)
